How Our Heated Driveway Specialists Work
Heated driveway systems use advanced technology to automatically detect snow and ice, then melt it away before it becomes a hazard. Learn about the two main technologies and our professional installation process.
Two Proven Heated Driveway System Technologies
Choose the system that best fits your property, climate, and budget.
Hydronic System
A boiler heats a mix of water and antifreeze. A pump circulates this fluid through flexible PEX tubing embedded 2-4 inches below the driveway surface. The heat radiates upward through the concrete or pavers. A snow sensor on the roof or at the edge detects moisture and temperature, automatically activating the system.
- ✓ Best for large driveways
- ✓ Lower operating costs
- ✓ Can use existing boiler
Electric System
Electric resistance cables or heating mats are embedded beneath the surface. When electricity passes through them, they generate heat. A smart controller monitors weather conditions and activates the system automatically when snow/ice is detected.
- ✓ Lower upfront cost
- ✓ Easier retrofit installation
- ✓ No boiler maintenance
Heated Driveway System Installation Process
Our professional installation ensures your system works reliably for decades.
Free Site Assessment
We visit your property to measure the area, assess your existing infrastructure (boiler, electrical panel), and understand your needs.
Custom System Design
Our engineers create a layout plan specific to your driveway, optimizing coverage, efficiency, and integration with your home systems.
Surface Preparation
The existing surface may need to be broken up or the new slab is prepared. Tubing or cables are laid precisely according to the design plan.
Installation & Wiring
The heating elements are secured and tested before the final surface is poured or relaid. Controls are mounted and wired.
Testing & Activation
We run a full system test, calibrate the sensors, and walk you through operation. Your driveway is ready for winter.
Heated Driveway System: Smart Automation & Controls
Our systems automatically detect weather conditions and activate only when needed, saving energy while keeping your driveway clear.
Above 40°F + no moisture = system automatically turns OFF to save energy
Aerial Sensor
Detects precipitation type and air temperature
Pavement Sensor
Monitors actual surface temperature
Smart Controller
Programmable schedules, energy monitoring, remote control via app
Heated Driveway System Compatible Surfaces
Heated driveway systems work with a variety of surface materials.
